Privacy

This page is operated by Douglas Education Service District (Douglas ESD), a public education agency, for Elkton Charter School. It shares information about the school with families who may be interested in enrolling.

This notice explains what happens to anything you enter here. It adds to the Douglas ESD privacy policy, which covers the district more broadly.

What we ask for

If you fill in a form on this page:

• Your email address. Required, so we can reply.
• Your name. Required, so we know who we are speaking to.
• Your phone number. Required, because someone from the school will call you to answer questions and arrange a visit. We only send text messages if you tick the box asking for them, and you can stop them at any time by replying STOP. Ticking it is not required to enroll or to visit, and leaving it unticked means we will only ever call.
• A label showing which link or form you used, such as the homepage or the footer. We use it to understand which parts of the page are useful. It is not your browsing history and it does not record other sites you visit.

That is everything the forms ask for. We do not ask for your child’s name, date of birth, home address, or school records anywhere on this page.

Information that arrives automatically

Like any website, ours receives standard request information when you visit, which can include your IP address and browser type. Our hosting provider uses this to serve the page and keep it secure.

We use a spam check from Cloudflare on the form. To tell a person from an automated script, Cloudflare receives information about the request, including the IP address it came from.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking service on this page.

Videos on this page

Videos are provided by YouTube. The student testimonial players load together with the page, so Google receives information such as your IP address and browser type when the page opens, whether or not you watch anything. The main video at the top of the page is different: it does not load until you click play.

When a player loads, and again when you play a video, Google may use cookies or similar technology, under Google’s privacy policy. We use YouTube’s no-cookie player, which limits this but does not eliminate it.

Why we collect it

• So someone from Elkton Charter School can contact you to answer questions and arrange a visit, by email or, if you gave us a number, by phone.
• So we can send you a short series of emails about the school.
• So we know which parts of this page led people to get in touch.
• To keep the form working and free of spam.

We do not use your information to advertise anything other than Elkton Charter School. We do not sell, rent, or trade it.

Who sees it

Douglas ESD holds this information. It is shared with staff at Elkton Charter School, including the principal and school office, so they can contact you about your inquiry.

We use these services to run the page and the email list:

• Mailchimp stores the email list and sends the emails.
• Google stores submissions in a spreadsheet used by Douglas ESD and Elkton Charter staff.
• Cloudflare runs the spam check on the form.
• Vercel hosts this website.
• YouTube provides the video players, once you choose to play one.

Each of these handles information under its own terms as well as ours.

Public records

Douglas ESD is a public agency. Information you send us may be a public record under Oregon law, and we may have to release it if someone requests it, subject to the exemptions the law provides. We may also disclose information where the law otherwise requires or permits it, including responding to a valid legal request or an immediate safety concern.

Keeping it safe

Information travels to us over an encrypted connection. Access to the email list and the spreadsheet is limited to Douglas ESD and Elkton Charter staff who need it for enrollment outreach.

Cookies

This page sets no advertising cookies and uses no tracking service. Cookies may be set by YouTube if you play a video, as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and the page will still work.

Families and students

This page is meant for parents, guardians, and other adults looking into schools, and for high-school-age students thinking about where to enroll.

If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to fill in the form for you. If we learn that someone under 13 has sent us their information directly, we will not add them to the email list, and we will delete what we have.

These forms are for general inquiries. They are not an enrollment application, and we do not ask you to send school records through them. If information from an inquiry later becomes part of an enrollment or student record, Douglas ESD and Elkton Charter School handle it under the student-record laws and policies that apply to schools.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry information for as long as it is needed for enrollment outreach, and for as long as Oregon’s public records retention schedules for education agencies require. You can ask us to delete it, and we will unless we are required to keep it.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe. Our emails include an unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribe requests as the law requires.
• Ask what we hold. Contact us and we will tell you.
• Correct or delete it. Contact us and we will fix or remove it, other than anything we have to keep. We may keep a minimal record of an unsubscribe so we do not email you again by mistake.

You do not have to give a reason, and asking will not affect your child’s chances of enrolling.

Accessibility

This page is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. If any part of it is difficult for you to use, tell us and we will fix it.
